Where are the Best Adult Dance Classes Near Me for Ballroom Dancing and Swing Dances in Reno and Sparks?
Where are the Best Adult Dance Classes Near Me for Ballroom Dancing and Swing Dances in Reno and Sparks?
That is actually a question I saw on Google when I was looking for something related to Ballroom lessons and dancing in Reno. It got me thinking and wondered if that is how everyone looks for the best ballroom studios in Reno or Sparks?
How would anyone know what is "Best" when it comes to adult dance classes near me (them) by reading something on the internet? Hell, I will tell you I am the best class or work at the best studio because I would love for you to come to my classes, but the reality is you gotta try them out and find what you like.
There are probably more than three but the main ballroom dance studios that I know are active in Reno. Arthur Murray, Starlite dance studio, and the Ballroom of Reno (School of Dance). I am not sure if Ballantine's Ballroom & School is still active or not. There might be other instructors still that teach out of ballet studios in Reno or Sparks but I would not know about them.
Also, do I know all the teachers and all the adult dance classes in Reno? Uh, nope. Do I think my ego wants you only to come to my West Coast Swing classes on Monday and Tuesdays or take International Standard or American Smooth ballroom private lessons with me? Hell YES! 😎 But I am honest about the fact you don't know what the best class for you or even what dance teacher is best for you until you try a few. You have to be open to how teachers teach, how studios run their ballroom studio, and what type of dancing floats your boat. (West subliminal Coast message Swing inserted here)
I have met and heard some nice things about the staff at Arthur Murray in Reno, they are a famous franchise and that comes with a cost of course. I have gained a lot of students that were former Arthur Murray students but it doesn't mean it is a bad school or they have bad classes, on the contrary, I believe Reno Arthur Murray has a great school and the teachers are wonderful. The Ballroom of Reno is unique because it is a non-profit 501(c)(3) and has all independent instructors that are professional, awesome, well trained, and rent floor space to teach private lessons at BOR (Ballroom of Reno), allowing them to keep the private lesson cost down. Also, the adult group dance classes are free for the beginner classes and I believe only $10 for all other levels. Starlite Ballroom Dance Studio has some classes you might check out, I honestly am no longer sure who teaches there because some changes have gone on but they have a nice floor and an array of classes and personalities to choose from.
With it, all said and done when you type into Google search "The best adult dance classes near me for ballroom and swing dances in Reno and Sparks" you will get a choice of several studios but not so many that you are overwhelmed. Go talk to them and try the classes and see if you vibe with the instructor and how the place treats its students. If they offer you a free private or group class, is it a sales pitch the entire time or an actual lesson? Do they care about the students learning or the students buying more lessons? I truly believe there is a teacher for everyone, yet you may have to try a few to find the one that fits you.
Often we think our first instructor is the best because we don't know anything yet, but please don't stay with a teacher out of guilt. If you are not getting what you need from them that just means they may be new or you have outgrown them and need more. Don't just let a studio assign you an instructor and then later tell you that you can't try another teacher if you don't think it's a good fit. You are the client and paying them. So, if your teacher sucks, find another one. It's okay we all know it is part of the business. That is why I constantly am taking lessons to continue to grow and get better. I won't teach something that I am not studying.
I am a bit different than most instructors when I teach my West Coast Swing class at The Ballroom of Reno and if you want an idea of what a goofball I am just go to my Youtube channel "Better West Coast Swing Reno" and see for yourself. I am serious about the dance but I want you to have fun while you are learning. I like to say I have "Probably the worlds 2nd best WCS site"
I would love to see you at the Ballroom of Reno and make that your dance home, but if you find yourself on another dance floor I am just glad you are dancing, smiling, and moving your body every day. Here are some great beginner lessons to get you started learning and help between your lessons.
If you come to my free Monday night West Coast Swing Class at 6pm, or the Beyond Basics level 2 class Mondays at 7pm or really want to be challenged and are coming to the intermediate/advance class on Tuesdays at 6 at the Ballroom of Reno please let me know if these articles have helped you in any way.
I adore you all
Cheers,
J
