Best Ballroom Studio in Reno for Adult Dance Classes

Image
Best Ballroom Studio in Reno for Adult Dance Classes?  Okay, let's not go there and make me say the best ballroom studio in Reno or Sparks is the one I teach out of.  I have no financial stake in the Ballroom of Reno but will tell you when I moved here to Reno I taught out of Starlite Ballroom and Never Enough Ballroom.  I wanted to rent space at Arthur Murray Reno, because I had heard nice things about the owners, but they would not rent to me because they are a franchise and won't allow independent pros to teach there. 😔  But let me tell you why I feel and believe with my entire being that The Ballroom of Reno (TBOR) is a place you should check out.  Then I will give you a link at the bottom of the page to their YouTube channel for all the free lessons they have online for you to use to fill in the gaps between your private or group classes, deal? Charity: The Ballroom of Reno They are a 501(c)3 non-profit charity that is disguised as a ballroom dance studio in Reno .  Do

West Coast Swing Dancing in Reno and Sparks

West Coast Swing Dancing in Reno and Sparks Now when we say we have a swing dance club or are going swing dancing, we actually mean we have a West Coast Swing Dance Club or going to dance WCS.  They don't play East Coast Swing music but the music that triples you could dance ECS to it. If you don't know anything about West Coast Swing, let me give you a quick history lesson and explain the difference between swing dances.  The origins of our dance came from Lindy Hop.  Our music was faster, women wore heels and skirts or dresses.  Over the years the music started changing and slowed way down.  Followers put on jeans and low heel dance shoes and even the strike of the foot changed in how we dance it.   A great teacher named Skippy Blair was instrumental in popularizing it in the 50's when she was with Arthur Murray Dance Studios.  She told me that it was originally called "Western Swing" and her response was, "No one is going to want to dance country swing.&

Ballroom Dance in Reno for Fitness and Mental Health? I am no doctor, I rarely even go to the doctor, but I do have several friends that are doctors.😁  They all agree if you move your body every single day that is a good thing.  So, all of you that love to "watch" Dancing With The Stars",  "So You Think You Can Dance", Dance whatever show, I hope it inspires you to get your butt off the couch and start dancing for yourself! There are so many videos, articles, and people talking about all the good dance can do for us. I am not going to write an article to convince you to start Ballroom, Latin or Swing dancing in Reno, Sparks or even the Carson areas.  Why? Because that is something you know you want to do or you don't.  So, I am going to go the other way. Some reasons not to dance You just don't want to.   What someone doesn't want to dance?  I know lots of people who don't want to dance, but they love the gym or running or playing tennis or

Free Beginner Adult Dance Classes at the Ballroom of Reno, Why?

Image
Why would a ballroom dance studio have free adult group dance classes every week for beginners? That is a great question.  Other than the Ballroom of Reno being a non-profit dance studio in Reno NV and offering free beginner group classes as a way to create outreach to our community, they decided when they opened 9+ years ago that they wanted BOR to be different.   Being Different How I feel they are different is the Ballroom cares more about growing the dance community and making it affordable for everyone.  Some studios like  Arthur Murray in Reno have a free private lesson which is nice but how much can you really learn in one hour?  The Ballrooms group class is every week for an hour and you are usually repeating the same moves so you get comfortable and confident to move to the next level.  Another way the Ballroom is different is they have all independent instructors that charge their own rate and most are part of the introductory special of only $39 for two private lessons and
