Best Adult Dance Classes for Ballroom, Latin and Swing in Reno

Best Adult Dance Classes for Ballroom, Latin, and Swing in Reno.

There are enough ballroom studios in Reno and Sparks to give you a good taste of what the vibe is like here, overall it is pretty good.  You might consider trying out a few lessons with different teachers at different studios.  I also advise you to watch the teacher dance because they will teach you exactly how they dance and if that is what you want to look like when you dance and you enjoy the lessons, then you have found your teacher.  Eventually, you may outgrow them, but that is okay too depending on where you want to take your dancing level.

To be very honest there are some studios that just want to push hard and make you buy more lessons even when you have a bunch on the books. As well as there are teachers at ballroom studios in Reno, Sparks, or all over the country that I have witnessed who will sell a block of lessons and then start canceling on the student after the check clears.  Sure, eventually the student gets the lessons but what the teacher doesn't see is sometimes that lesson is the best part of the week for the dancer.  Even when my son was young and he would hear me complain about teachers that did that and he would say "Wouldn't they make more money if they just taught the lessons?"  Yeah, an 11-year-old at the time understood good service and business and being a good human better than those so-called instructors.

I honestly, may not be the best writer for these posts because I cuss, I have no idea how to use punctuation correctly:;',. 😁but I am passionate about dancers and being sure they don't get taken advantage of when deciding to brave a new adventure.  I have seen people start dancing just to be taken advantage of and leave where they started and never dance again.  That is a shame that the asshole that would do that to someone got to keep the money and continue doing business as usual waiting for the next person.

I have been in this business for well over 30 years and the majority of ballroom instructors are professional, honest, ethical, go out of their way to be the best experience for the student.  I was lucky to be brought up in the business with great mentors and knowing that students are more than a paycheck.  Students become my friends, I am their therapist, confidant, and a person they feel they can trust with their emotions.  They are part of my dance family.

So when I started teaching Ballroom, Latin and Swing Classes for adults in Reno years ago and saw a lot of the tactics that give the ballroom dance business a bad name, I found people that wanted to start a ballroom dance studio that fought to change all that in Reno.  I honestly and openly tell everyone I could rent teaching space anywhere, but will only teach out of and recommend the Ballroom of Reno School of Dance.  I never was a partner, I pay floor rent and remain an independent instructor free to teach at any dance studio in Reno or Sparks that I choose.  I even started helping with the non-profit part of the ballroom.  I am excited about all the great things going on with that and am a monthly donor to support the programs and the studio.

What's so special about the Ballroom of Reno?

The Ballroom of Reno has been around since 2012 or so, they are a non-profit 501(c)(3), have a great Dance with Me-Dementia friendly program as well as starting dance classes in Reno for the underserved youth at the local Boys and Girls clubs.  The Ballroom has always offered free beginner group classes and had food drives, charity dances, and actually given a shit about the community and focused on growing the dance community here in the entire Reno area.  They even have a great Youtube channel that has class recaps and full lessons for free!

So, back to where are the best ballroom, Latin, and swing dance classes for adults in Reno or Sparks?
I know this will sound like an ad to you but if I find a better place to take adult ballroom dance lessons I will write a huge article about them and tell everyone, but until then I would say give the Ballroom of Reno a try and experience what it is like to not pay too much for lessons, have a teacher that is not an employee of a studio and still get to take advantage of the very affordable beginning packages.  Check those out at this link here.  Intro Beginner Special $39 and Step Two Dance Package for $199

Hey also, join the Ballroom for this donation-only beginner dance camp.  Even if you are not a beginner.  It will be fun and dance lessons for two wonderful causes.

The Ballroom of Reno is partnering with the Alzheimers Association of Nevada.  I proceeds go to the Alzheimers Association of Nevada and our Dance with Me Dementia program.

Starts at 1pm on Saturday, June 19th and goes until 4pm with two dances happening at a time.  Our main 3600+ sq ft main dance floor will have one class and our street side will have the other. So you will be able to enjoy up to three dance lessons that day.

If you cannot attend and would like to donate to two causes that help our community please go to  https://www.theballroomofreno.org/donate to be a good human.  It is very much appreciated.

I adore you all.  Be a good human.
Cheers
J
